where do I want to go from here?

Category: musings / Tags: no tag / Add Comment

This used to be an easy question to answer. Not anymore.

I know that I want to change the world. Yes, I do have that messianic complex. Nothing wrong with that, especially if you’re an artist. What does “changing the world” mean, though?

Few things:
1. Personal level:

  • Inspire people in my daily life. I want to change the world of the people I encounter in my everyday life. I want to support them, encourage them, inspire them for the better… to be the best that they can be.
  • Inspire people through art. The same as above, but through my art. I hope to touch people who experience my art like how I touch people in my life. I believe that what one does/creates is defined by who he is. This is more so in art.

2. Macro level:

  • Change the art experience: I want to change how we experience art. Breaking the boundaries between art and audience, creator and creation, combining media to envelope spectators in the art and inspire them to join the creation process
  • Change the business of art: I want to find new ways to generate revenue for artists so they can focus on creating works that they believe in and allow the mass (not collectors or critics) to vote what’s art and what’s not with their money.

Now, I need to evaluate where I am with these agenda and figure out how to gain momentum in each.
