Freedom is all I ask for…

I need to feel the air under my wings

I need to feel I can defy gravity

I need to feel unstoppable

I need to fly…

The wings…my wings…

They are numb

I don’t even know how to move them anymore

I’m not supposed to spread them, they said.

I need to consider their feelings

I can’t make them feel small.

But…

What about MY feelings?

ENOUGH!

This is my life.

I can’t let anyone stop me from touching the coulds

I can’t let that. No more!

I will reclaim my wings, my destiny, my freedom

But…

What if all these times I’m on the ground because I choose to?

What if my wings take me to a place where no one can reach me?

What if my freedom costs me all that I care for?

Yes, I will be able to fly anywhere, anytime

But…

Will I have something to fly for?

Will I have someone to fly to?

Will I have any desire to fly at all?
